JEE Main Eligibility Criteria
JEE Main 2024 Eligibility Criteria as per NTA
JEE Main is the national level entrance exam for all those students who want to pursue Engineering as their higher studies and want to take admissions into several NITs and CFTIs.
As per the new notification of NTA, JEE Main 2024 will only conduct in Online mode i.e. Computer Based Mode.
Relaxation in JEE Eligibility Criteria
As per the latest update by NTA, for the academic year 2024-2025, JEE Main 2024 qualified candidates will now only need a passing certificate in class 12th examination irrespective of the marks obtained.

Basic Eligibility for JEE Main 2024
Nationality - Candidates must be Indian Citizens.
Students living in Abroad Countries i.e. NRIs, PIOs, OCIs & Foreign National Candidates are eligible to give JEE Main 2024 Examination.
Number of Attempts - A Candidate can only give JEE Main Exam exactly not more than 3 times.
As per new rules by HRD Ministry, Aadhaar Card is necessary for all the candidates to sit in the JEE Main Exam.
Aadhaar Card Requirement in JEE Main 2024

All the students who are Indian Citizens must possess an Aadhaar Card that is issued by UIDAI. Candidates have to fill their Aadhaar Card Number while filling their JEE Main 2024 Application form also with their Name and Date of Birth which will be later validated with the UIDAI’s data.

In case the details didn’t match, then the application form of the candidate will be rejected and he/she will no longer be eligible for sitting in JEE Main examination. So students must ensure that they have correct details on their Aadhaar Card as per their School Records.

Those Students who belong from J&K, Meghalaya and Assam are excluded from this provision of Aadhaar Card. These candidates have to fill their Passport Number, Ration card number or any other government valid identity number to verify their details.

Age Criteria for Candidates
Age Limit - Aspirants who are born on or after 1st Oct, 1995 (only for General and OBC candidates) are eligible to write JEE Main Examination.
Relaxation - Candidates those belong to a Reserved Category like SC, ST and PwD category have a relaxation of up to 5 years in the upper age.
Date of Birth will be considered will be same as on their 10th Class Mark sheet to appear in the JEE Main Examination.
Qualification Criteria for Candidates appearing in JEE Main 2024 Examination
Qualifying Exam - Students must qualify their 10+2 or equivalent exam from the recognized board such as CBSE, ICSE and many more.
Subjects Requirement - Students applying for JEE Main 2024 should have cleared their class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as their Main subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biology or other optional Subjects.
Passing Marks requirement - There are no minimum marks required for appearing in JEE Main 2024 Examination. Candidates who have scored passing marks in their 12 or equivalent can also apply for it.
Class 12 Appearing Students - Students who will be appearing in Class 12 in the year 2024 are also eligible for JEE Main 2024.
NIOS students are also eligible for giving this examination.
Diploma Holders - Diploma Holder candidates can also apply in JEE Main 2024 but their rank and scores are not valid for taking admissions into NITs and CFTIs.

Eligibility Criteria for Passing Year Candidates
- Students must check complete JEE Eligibility criteria provided in the below-given section before registering for the exam:

Age Criteria: There are no age limit criteria prescribed for the candidates for appearing in the exam. Irrespective of age, candidates who have passed their 12th (Intermediate) or its equivalent in 2022, 2023, or appearing in 2024 are eligible to apply. Students must note that they have to fulfill the age criteria as prescribed by the Institution they are taking admission to.
NITs, CFTIs and IITs Admissions Eligibility Criteria
For admissions in to NITs, CFTIs and IITs, a Candidate should have passed for qualifying examinations in class 12th conducted by respective boards.
For admissions into BE/B-Tech, Candidate should pass their 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as their compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology subjects.
For admissions into B.Arch./B.Planning, Candidate must pass 10+2 with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
