JEE at a Glance:
Given below is an at a glance breifing on the Institutes & JEE Exams that students need to clear in order to take UG admissions in prospective Institute:
👉 IITs are the most prestigious Institutes in India & among top ranked over the globe too. With JoSAA Seat Allocation Process, students can take admissions in IITs through their JEE Advance Rank.
👉 Next to IITs are the NITs & CFTIs for engineering & architecture programs. Students can participate in the CSAB Counseling to take admissions in NITs, IIITs & CFTIs through their JEE Main Rank.
👉 Other than ones mentioned above, the NBC/NAAC acredited top 200 SFTIs (Self Financed Technical Institutes), based on NIRF India Rankings, also participate in the CSAB Counseling for admissions of students via their JEE Main Ranks.
Increasingly, students apart from India have also shown interest in JEE preparation especially from countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahain and couple others. JEE has been the top choice for NRI students as well.
Note: IIT's are located at Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Mandi, Mumbai, Patna, Ropar, Roorkee and Varanasi.
History of JEE:
Earlier CBSE conducted a common admission test for admission to various undergraduate engineering courses. This exam was called AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) & it was conducted offline.
For admissions into IITs, another exam called IIT-JEE was conducted by one of the 7 IITs (zones). In 2013, AIEEE was replaced by JEE Main & IIT-JEE was replaced with JEE Advanced.
From 2019 onwards, JEE Main is being conducted by NTA & JEE Advanced continues to be conducted by one of the 7 IITs.
JEE Main Updates:
As per NTA’s Notifications, from 2019 onwards, JEE Main is to be held twice a year (January & April) for admissions into B-Tech and B-Arch Courses. But this year JEE Main is going to be conducted 4 times in a year. check here the JEE Important Dates 2022.
NTA also stated that there will be no change in the JEE Main Exam Pattern and Syllabus of JEE Main.
Registration for JEE Main 2022 started from the first week of Dec 2021 for Febuary, March, April & May 2022 Examination. Also from 2022 onwards, NRI Students will be able to utilize their JEE scores to be eligible for CIWG/DASA Schemes (for NRI Quota) in order to take admission in Top Technical Institutions of India.

JEE Main underwent a major update in exam pattern & academic eligibility from 2021 onward. Refer the link for updates: JEE Main changes in exam pattern, syllabus & eligibility.
JEE Advance Scores are accepted in IITs, ISM Dhanbad, IIST, IISERs, RGIPT, although no NRI Quota is given under IITs. NITs & CFTIs allow admissions of NRIs & PIOs under DASA / CIWG Schemes which acts like an NRI Quota.
NTA Introduced Changes:
Let’s see the major changes that were introduced by NTA in JEE Main 2011 Examinations that will carry on for JEE 2022, 2023 & years after that until it is again updated by authorities-:
-
JEE Main will be held twice a year (from 2019 onwards), providing more opportunities to JEE aspirants /students.
-
The Exams will be held in 8 different settings so that students can have choices to pick up the desirable exam date for themselves.
-
As JEE Main Exams will be held in January and April, so students will have ample time to prepare for their Board Examinations.
-
In case the student appears for both the exams in the same year, then the best of two scores will be considered as the final scores of that candidate.
-
Approximately 3000 centres were developed by NTA in 2021, in order to train the students for Computer Based Examinations.
-
There will be no need of verifying your Class 12th roll number/enrollment number.
-
JEE Main Exam centers have been increased by 258 which includes 248 test centers in India and 10 centers outside India.
