All About JEE Paper 2 & AAT – Scope, Admissions & Colleges:

Bachelor of Architecture is a 5-year degree program. This also includes a training period or internship. Students who have completed their 10+2 school education, with a minimum of 50% are eligible candidates to take up Architecture. Such high school graduates must take an architecture entrance exam – JEE Paper 2.
JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) has two different examinations. The first one is JEE Mains and second JEE Advanced. The students who qualify Mains can only appear for JEE Advanced Exam .
The JEE Mains exam is organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) whereas, the JEE Advanced exams are organised by one of the7 IIT Zones each year.
Further in this, Jee Mains and Advanced has 2 papers- Paper 1 & Paper 2. Paper 1 is for candidates who wish to pursue a B.E. / B.Tech. degree & Paper 2 is for candidates who prepare to pursue B.Arch or B.Planning courses. Paper 1 is conducted in online mode where as paper 2 is conducted partially online & partially offline (Pen/Pencil and Paper for drawing test).
After clearing JEE Mains Paper 2, the candidates get qualified to take JEE Advanced Paper 2 exam & then Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) so that they can take admissions in the top Architecture Institutes such as IITs & SPAs. Candidates who only clear JEE Mains Paper 2 also get admitted in SPAs for B.Arch courses.
NRI, PIO & OCI Students who qualify JEE Mains Paper-2 can secure a seat in NITs, SPAs,etc under NRI Quota through the MHRD governed DASA / CIWG Schemes.
The JEE Paper 2 & AAT checks the candidate’s skill in Freehand Drawing, Perceptional Drawing, Geometrical Drawing and General Knowledge on architecture. Candidates who have cleared there JEE Advanced Paper 2 can then apply for AAT.
Of all the IITs available, only IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee offer the B.Arch program. These institutes are ranked top in India to study architecture. There are over 300 architecture colleges all over India. Most of the institutes that offer architecture, select candidates based on the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) scores. On an average, 35 institutes in India currently accepts candidates based on the Paper 2 JEE Ranks. The National Institute of Technology(NITs) situated at Calicut, Raipur, Tiruchirapalli, Rourkela and Hamirpur, also selects candidates based on the JEE Rank.
Students who graduate as architects from IITs get an average of 20 lakhs per annum as their package.
