How to Cancel SAT Registration and Test

Indian NRI Students, I know when it comes to admissions procedures and all the requirements for admission, things get a bit confusing. After hearing out to a lot of friends and relatives and researching you register yourself for an SAT but as the test day draws closer, you find that ACT is a better option. Now you want to cancel the SAT and apply for the ACT. Next, you ask yourself, what’s the procedure to cancel your SAT registration?

• Log in to the College Board Official website and open the MySAT account. 

• Go to the registration you want to cancel. 

• From the I would like to menu, select the option of Cancel Registration.

• Now you can cancel the registration and register for a new date first.

The cancellation fee is $25 before the regular cancellation date and if you cancel after the regular cancellation deadline the fee is $35. When you think of cancellation, the main items that come to your mind are:

• What is the deadline for cancellation?
• Will you get a refund for the cancellation?
• Will this hamper your future admissions?

Cancellation of the SAT Test Without a Refund

It’s simple if you do not want to sit for the test and also do not want a refund, just don’t show up on the test day. College Board needs no notification of it. They also note that no scores are sent to your colleges as a result.

Also, if you miss a test, the College Board does not keep a record of it. According to them, there could be major reasons for cancellation and it can be tedious for them to keep a record of all. And anyways you are not going to get any refund in this case. Hence, if you miss a test, it’s completely on you.

Cancellation of the SAT Test With a Partial Refund

In any given circumstance, no one is ever going to get a full refund. Still, if you cancel, you’ll only get a small part of your money back. So, it’s always advisable to hold off on actually completing your registration until you’re absolutely sure you want to take it.

How Do You Get the Refund?

You just have to give a call to the Customer Service department of The College Board and notify them about the cancellation. The deadline for the call to customer service is five days prior to your test date. It’s possible that you may receive a partial refund of $10, which is 1/5th of your registration fees. The usual timeframe to process the refund is six days.

How to Reschedule the SAT Test Date

Rescheduling the SAT Test requires an additional fee of $29. You have to follow the given steps to reschedule your SAT Test:

• Sign in to your account on the official website of the College Board.
• Now open the MySAT Page.
• Now search for 'Change Registration' under your test and click on it.
• Now you will be redirected to a new page and you can select a new SAT Test date under the Test Date option.
• Now select a test center and check the declaration box.
• In the last, pay the rescheduling fee of $29 and after that, you will receive a confirmation email along with your updated test date.
