The Andhra Pradesh 2026-27 prospectus lists the remaining 204 seats under Competent Authority Quota, so the published 240-seat intake is fully accounted for as 36 AIQ + 204 Competent Authority seats. Therefore, an NRI family should not treat “36 AIQ seats” as “36 NRI seats,” and should not budget for a separate ₹20-25 lakh SVMC NRI fee.

The current 2026 seat information does not show a separate NRI quota at Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Tirupati. This is the most important correction to older versions of this page.
SVMC has 36 seats in MCC’s 2026 Round 1 All India Quota matrix because 36 is 15% of its 240-seat intake. That percentage does not make the seats NRI seats. AIQ is a national merit-and-reservation route. NRI quota is a separate seat category that must be specifically notified by the counselling authority for the institution concerned.

For Andhra Pradesh Government Medical Colleges, the 2026-27 prospectus says the current-year tuition will be as decided by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, subject to the stated court proceedings. Its reference fee table carries ₹15,000 per annum for Government Medical College Category-A MBBS seats. Families should therefore use ₹15,000 only as the published reference tuition in the prospectus and re-check the admission order issued for the allotted seat before payment.

A family could otherwise reject SVMC because it appears to carry a high NRI fee, or could incorrectly expect a lower NRI cutoff in exchange for that fee. Neither assumption should be used for SVMC unless a future official seat matrix specifically creates an NRI category for the college.
There is no final 2026 SVMC Round 1 closing rank yet as of 11 August 2026. MCC has scheduled the Round 1 result for 17 August 2026. Until allotment data is published, any page presenting a final 2026 SVMC AIQ closing rank or an “SVMC NRI cutoff” should be treated cautiously.
The NEET qualifying cutoff is different from the rank normally needed to secure a government-college seat such as SVMC. Dr NTRUHS’s 2026 notification lists the following NEET qualification ranges:

Potentially yes, but “NRI” itself is not the admission category at SVMC. The answer depends on which counselling route the student is trying to use.
An NRI-family student may compete through MCC if the candidate satisfies MCC’s nationality, NEET and counselling eligibility. The seat remains an AIQ seat; NRI sponsorship does not create extra preference inside SVMC’s AIQ matrix.
The student must satisfy the state’s applicable citizenship and local/non-local residence rules. Living in the USA does not by itself create Andhra Pradesh state-seat eligibility.
Dr NTRUHS’s 2026 notification states that PIO/OCI cardholders registered on or after 4 March 2021 are eligible only against an NRI seat or a supernumerary seat and are not eligible against a seat reserved exclusively for Indian citizens. Since SVMC does not currently show a separate NRI seat block, an OCI family should check this point carefully before assuming the AP state route is usable.

A U.S. high-school diploma alone should not be treated as automatic Indian MBBS eligibility. For the Andhra Pradesh 2026 process, the qualifying examination must be equivalent to the required 10+2 standard with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English, and the candidate must satisfy the applicable marks and age requirements.

The document file should match the route you are actually using. A major mistake would be to prepare only an “NRI sponsor file” for SVMC when the student is really applying through regular MCC AIQ or Andhra Pradesh Competent Authority Quota.

If the student’s practical admission plan depends on an NRI seat because regular AIQ or AP state eligibility is not available, do not keep SVMC on the list as though it were a Category-C NRI college.
