JIPMER no longer offers NRI (Non-Resident Indian) or OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) quota seats for MBBS admissions.

Earlier, JIPMER had 243 MBBS seats in total, of which 6 were for NRI/OCI students, 5 in Puducherry and 1 in Karaikal. These were extra seats, and students paid a one-time fee of USD 75,000 for the full course.

JIPMER NRI FEE

Earlier, JIPMER charged NRIs USD 75,000 (one-time) for MBBS. From 2022-23 onwards, the NRI quota was removed, so there is no separate NRI fee. Now, all students, including NRIs, pay the regular AIQ fee of about ₹12,600 per year.

Eligibility For NRIs in JIPMER

NRI/OCI candidates interested in MBBS admission at JIPMER must qualify NEET-UG and apply through the General AIQ counselling. Earlier, JIPMER had a separate NRI quota with 6 seats, but from 2022-23 onwards these were withdrawn.

JIPMER NRI Admission Procedure

Now, NRI and OCI candidates follow the same admission process as Indian students.

Admission is through NEET-UG and MCC’s All India Quota (AIQ) counselling but should still carry passport/OCI and (if applicable) equivalence certificate for document checks. Below is the step-by-step process:

- Qualify NEET-UG.
- 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotech & English (generally ≥50% in PCB).
- If 10+2 is from a foreign board, keep an equivalence certificate ready.
Take NEET-UG & get scorecard
- Keep the printable NEET result and admit card.
Register for MCC UG counselling (AIQ)
- Create/Log in MCC UG portal, pay registration + choice-locking fee.
Choice filling
- Add JIPMER Puducherry & JIPMER Karaikal in your preference list.
Upload/prepare documents
- NEET scorecard & admit card
- Class 10 & 12 mark sheets/certificate (and equivalence if foreign board)
- Passport/OCI card (proof of nationality/status)
- Photo, signature, ID proofs as specified by MCC/JIPMER
Seat allotment rounds
- Check Round-1 → Round-2 → subsequent/stray rounds results on MCC.
- If allotted JIPMER, download allotment letter.
Report to JIPMER
- Document verification at the campus/online portal.
- Submit undertakings/medical fitness forms if asked.
Fee payment & admission confirmation
- Pay AIQ (general) fee as per JIPMER’s fee heads (no separate NRI fee).
- Complete hostel formalities if needed.
