About CIWG
What is CIWG Quota?
CIWG is a scheme started by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India for the children of Indian expatriates (NRIs / PIOs / OCIs) in Gulf countries looking for admissions at the premier Indian Institutes (NITs / CFTIs / IIITs...SPAs..etc) through the DASA scheme.
CIWG Scheme explicitly applies to students in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
CIWG Reservation
As per the CIWG scheme, there will be 1/3rd reservation of DASA seats for the Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf countries (CIWG).
however, any unoccupied seats out of the 1/3rd category of CIWG shall be reverted to the 2/3rd quota seats meant for other different categories of DASA.
The 1/3 reserved category of CIWG will be reverted to the 2/3rd quota if not occupied within the spot round.

CIWG Eligibility Criteria 2024
The eligibility criteria of CIWG will remain similar to that of the NRIs. The applicants will have a separate choice for CIWG or NRI or for both in their application forms.
If the applicant opts for both the categories, then he or she will be required to pay a fee that is applicable to the NRI category i.e. USD 4300. But, if the applicant gets a seat under the CIWG, the extra amount due will be refunded to the student as per the rules.
Students who fall under the CIWG scheme are required to submit proof showing either parent employed in a Gulf country.
Required Documents
Appendix III stated in the brochure is required to be submitted. This has to be duly signed by the employer of the parent working in the Gulf.
The passport copy, visa copy, and the work permit (in case of any) of the child’s parent in the Gulf are also mandatory to be submitted as proof of the CIWG category.
Academic Eligibility
In case the seats under the CIWG category are full during the counseling, then the applicant will become eligible for the other 2/3rd quota if the applicant has chosen for both CIWG and NRI (Indian students who have done their 11th and 12th outside India). He/she should have also paid the complete fee of USD 4300.
The academic eligibility for the students under the CIWG category remains the same as in the case of other DASA applicants.
The applicant is required to make a payment of USD 300 as a registration fee which is non-refundable and USD 700 as the tuition fee for one semester. In case there is any modification in the tuition fee from the competent authority it will be applicable to CIWG also.
Key Benefits for CIWG in the DASA Scheme
The CIWG applicant can take benefit of the below-mentioned fee waivers only if he falls under the 8 countries of CIWG. The benefits list is as follows:
-
NRI/PIO/OCI applicants that are eligible for the CIWG quota are eligible for the DASA quota as well. But in order to avail of this option, the applicant has to pay the same tuition fee as the DASA applicant pays. That is if the CIWG applicant pays the same first-semester fee as a DASA student.
-
Then such applicants are shown both in the CIWG and DASA quotas of respectively institute and branch separately during the choice filling.
-
In case, if the CIWG applicant is allotted the seat on a CIWG quota basis, the remaining amount will be credited to the applicant’s account once DASA concludes the whole admission process.
-
Applicants that pay the CIWG fee are eligible for the CIWG quota alone and they won’t be eligible for the CIWG quota.
-
CIWG applicants will be paying just 62500 INR tuition fees a semester. Whereas, DASA applicants will pay 4000 USD a semester. Check the DASA 2024-25 Fee Structure for more details.
Number of Seats Available For DASA CIWG
5% extra seats (within 15% of the supernumerary quota of DASA) are reserved for the CIWG category, i.e., 1/3rd seats from the DASA quota are earmarked for CIWG.

DASA / CIWG & JEE FAQ 2024-25
Answer: Yes, DASA Scheme as well as its subset (the CIWG Scheme) will be available for admissions in the academic year 2024-25.
By applying under these scheme, students can take admissions in NITs, IIITs, CFIs & SPAs. The only difference from 2024 is that JEE Main Rank will be considered valid, not SAT 2.
Answer: No. As notified on the official website of DASA, SAT 2 Scores or SAT Subject Scores will no longer be valid from 2024 onwards to take admissions under DASA & CIWG Scheme.
Answer: The benefit with JEE is that the students who happen to be eligible for JEE Advanced (decided on the basis of JEE Main Results), can take JEE Advanced Exams to try for admissions in IITs, the most premier engineering Institute in India.
The same wasn’t possible with SAT 2 because IITs dont intake students on the basis of SAT 2 Scores. If students can’t clear JEE Advanced, they can still take admissions in NITs, IIITs, CFIs & SPAs on the basis of JEE Main Rank.
The eligibility criteria for DASA 2024 & CIWG 2024 will remain the same as it is for 2023 or 2022. There are no changes in the eligibility criteria yet announced officially by DASA. Visit here, to check your DASA Eligibility.
Answer: NRI, PIO, OCI Students who are in grade 11th (in 2023) and will be appearing for grade 12th final exams in 2024, are eligible for JEE 2024 to apply under the DASA 2024.
If you are in grade 12th (in 2023), you must be appearing for grade 12th final exams in 2024. Hence you will be giving SAT 2 for applying under DASA 2024.
If in case you wish to take an year extra just for exam preparation, then the year will be 2024 & hence you will have to take JEE Main to apply under DASA 2024.
Answer: Because DASA released this notification on 4th of April on its official website (https://dasanit.org/). There are 100% chance that this notification is a final one.
No detailed circular has been released as of now but as soon as any such updates arrive, you can find them on our website.
Answer: This is completely unpredictable. But there seems to be less chance that it will be withdrawn. The NRI, PIO, OCI Students who wish to apply for DASA / CIWG 2024 (& years after 2024) must start preparing for JEE Main.
Answer: No changes have been made in the qualifying exam criteria for DASA 2024. Students must have a minimum of 60%, or equivalent, in Grade 12 Exams (of their respective boards) & must have successfully completed Maths, Physics and one of the subjects from (Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Biology) in Grade 11th & 12th.
Answer: The applicants must be thoroughly aware of the syllabus & pattern i.e. revolving around the NCERT textbooks for class 11th & 12th.
This is because JEE Syllabus is based on the NCERT Text books. The students must also practice using various reference books /online test series/ JEE coaching online/ mock tests/ previous years papers in order to crack JEE 2024 for applying under DASA 2024 or CIWG 2024.
Answer: The JEE cutoff varies every year because of the percentile system. Hence, the exact cut off cannot be mentioned. Every year, JEE cutoff is announced at the time of JEE Result Declaration & it is valid only for that particular year.
Answer: Based on the tough competition students have in India, it is very necessary for students to make extra efforts to clear JEE Main or Advanced. In India, when science students enter grade 11th, they take up tuitions or coaching to help them prepare for JEE Main.
Because the JEE Syllabus is based on NCERT Textbooks which are used in Grade 11th & 12th, it also helps them prepare for their school exams / board exams. Ideally, 2 years of JEE preparation (coaching, previous 40 years questions practice, test series) is needed for students who want to clear JEE Main.
Hence, it is highly recommended for NRI , PIO, OCI Students to take JEE Coaching if they wish to secure a seat in NITs, IIITs, CFIs or SPAs under DASA / CIWG Scheme 2024.

Answer: Observing this pattern of how DASA has been allowing NRI Students to submit their SAT 2 scores through their college board account, there are high chances that from session 2024-22 onwards, NRI Students might be made to submit their JEE Main Rank to DASA through their JEE Main account.
