NRI Quota In IITs

The supernumerary quota which is allotted by the Institutes of India for the Non-Resident Indians (NRI) is known as the NRI quota. In a few particular schemes (of such Quota), the Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), & Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) can also apply.

Such reputed Institutes may take admissions of NRI Students under either management quota or NRI Quota. In both such cases, fees for the entire course is a bit higher than the general students' fees.

NRI Quota in IITs :

IITs are the foremost choice among NRIs and International candidates. IITs are the prominent institutions that offer the best Engineering courses in India.

There is no NRI Quota available in IITs. IITs do not accept DASA/CIWG & NRI Quota. All NRI students will be the same as Indian students.

NRI students who wish to apply for IITs the IITs fee are the same as for students in India.

Other NITs & CFTIs colleges accept NRIs under DASA/CIWG & NRI Quota.

NRI Quota Available in Top Engineering Colleges Other Than IITs :

NRI Quota is available in NITs & CFTIs in form of DASA/CIWG. Other private colleges also accept NRI candidates through the NRI quota.

There are 3000 seats are available for NRI students. Approx 1000 seats are reserved for the CIWG quota & other 2000 seats are reserved for the DASA quota.

The National Institute of Technology (NITs) is open to all types of students. NRI Quota is available in NITs in form of DASA/CIWG. NRI students take JEE Main to get admission in NITs.

NITs, CFTIs, and other private institutes in India will coordinate the admissions to various undergraduate programs under DASA/CIWG scheme for the year 2025.

DASA & CIWG Scheme:

DASA Scheme For NRI Students: DASA is known as Direct Admissions of Students Abroad. DASA scheme was introduced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, India (MHRD) for NRIs (Non-Residential Indians)/PIO (Persons of Indian Origin)/OCI (Overseas Citizen of India)/Foreign Nationals who want to take admissions in the premier & reputed institutes of India.

Admissions will be provided in Undergraduate & PG Programs for Engineering, architecture design, management courses through Scores/Rank obtained in SAT 2/JEE and other entrance exams.

DASA Eligibility For NRI Students:

Age Eligibility For DASA: The candidate must be born on or after Oct 1, 1995, if he/she is aiming to apply for DASA 2025.

Academics Eligibility For DASA:

Applicant must qualify 12th grade or equivalent grade from Universities recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) & applicants must have successfully completed 3 subjects – Mathematics, Physics & one of the subjects from Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science or Biology in 11th and 12th grade.

Applicants with a minimum SAT score of 1800 are eligible. Applicants have to submit their 3 SAT Subject Test scores – SAT Physics, SAT Chemistry & SAT Mathematics Level 2 directly to the DASA conducting Institute from the College Board account.

Residential Eligibility For DASA:

All Foreign Nationals residing in any country including India or Indian Nationals studying abroad that fulfilled the above-mentioned admission criteria shall be eligible.

CIWG Scheme For NRI Students

CIWG stands for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries. CIWG is a scheme generated by the Ministry of India for the children of Indian expatriates in Gulf countries looking for admissions at the premier Indian Institutes through the DASA scheme.

Eligibility Criteria For CIWG

Age Eligibility For CIWG: The candidate must be born on or after Oct 1, 1995, if he/she is aiming to apply for CIWG 2025.

Academics Eligibility For CIWG:

An applicant must have qualified 11th and 12th grade from a foreign school abroad.

A minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in the 12th grade is mandatory to become eligible.

The applicant that has appeared for the 12th-grade exams and is likely to get results by April 2025, can also apply.
