How to Deal with CAS? | Project Ideas for CAS
For IB students, the success Mantra is Creativity, Action and Service. That is, in short, the ‘Get Set and Go' on your journey called life.
A bit of introspection is called for getting the CAS score for many endeavors which you thought not part of CAS. As a result, you may edit a few of the CAS activities you would have thought as the right thing to include.
Dealing with CAS is very difficult if you are steady with your outlook on Creativity, Action, and Service. You need to be inspired and at the same time have a passion for what you plan to do in CAS.
IB as such is different from other streams of academic courses in one aspect mainly, that is an analytical skill. As an offshoot, the CAS activity needs to be action-packed with fresh ideas and contents. The more you ponder on the subjects fresh ideas are bound to pour in.
If you are motivated, there is no stopping to acquire the International Baccalaureate diploma program. The students of the IB are required to think out of the box and do more of social activities.
The more time they can spend on extra-curricular activities will decide the CAS scores. This, in turn, will be reflected how bright colours you will pass out in the final IB diploma.
You are active, you are committed socially, and you are serviced minded, the only thing required of you is to streamline those virtues positively to reflect on the comprehensive CAS framework.
Requirements to get Higher CAS Score are:
- Make a timetable to have specified time devoted to CAS. An average 50 hours for each category is good enough.
- Stick to at least one activity that lasts for over three months. The volunteering can be incorporated into the daily routine to uniformly distribute the workload.
- The work has to be consistent and not just one time.
- You should have a supervisor and well-wisher to vouch for your activities. The evidence of your activities needs to be ratified and certified to be submitted to the IB.
- The evidence for your participation and preparation of the activity should be collaborative and quantifiable.
- You should Log your CAS hour in a log book, include evidence such as pictures, statements from supervisors, planning programs etc., to the Activity included.
- As luck would have it, the CAS is not a money making or rewarding monetary venture.

Open New Vista of Creativity
Learning to play a new musical instrument can be included in the creative activity. Pursuing your interest in Music can be taken up to greater heights. This could be a stepping stone for music therapy or setting up informal concerts, benefit concerts, or forming a band.
Your inclination to servicing will be construed as a positive score. You may keep a log book and add recordings, statement, feedback etc. so that your supervisor or mentor can certify those activities.
What about Writing Articles, Blogs or DIY notes? Good Ideas You Can Pursue.
Utilise the unlimited opportunity to work as a freelance blog writer. It could be poetry, fiction, satire or knowledge-based. Perhaps the journalist in you is craving for a few press releases published.
But make sure that there is no monetary benefit in writing, if at all you are getting any, kindly donate it charity and let your teacher or supervisor know about it. Writing for a forum or Quora is also a good idea.
- You can be even a multitasker like writing, presenting, or speaker.
- Participating in school activities
- If you have a social service set up in your school. Go for it wholeheartedly. For that matter, intercollegiate cultural festivals, stage arrangement, comparing also could be thought of.
- You are bound to gain not only creativity but also action and service. If there is a photographic or trekking club, you can be part of it. A book club is an ideal activity you can join or start even. A cookery club is a good idea too.
- You can improve your creativity by reading extensively. Learning a new language will b highly appreciated as well.
Action and Action All the Way
You may join a sports club or bodybuilding team. Athletics is another field you can think of. You can even become a coach if you are good. You may endorse your action by taking photos of training sessions, games, programs, posters, and tickets. You can be active on sports day.
Since these events are conducted by the school, you should be able to get a teacher as a supervisor, and as with the other sports events, photos and videos is your best friend for evidence. Helping the senior citizens will be appreciated well. This is treated as a service activity as well,

- Engage yourself with your local elder community.
