Xavier Institute of Polytechnic and Technology (Ranchi)

Xavier Institute of Polytechnic and Technology is situated at Bargawa, Namkum. The institute is affiliated to Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT) from 2019 to 2020 and is approved from AICTE. Managed by the committee of XISS, the institute has been offering technical education to all class of students coming from different parts of society. Established in a vast 10 acres of land XIPT has been operating from year 2010 with its commitment of providing quality education and help the society by its maximum potentiality.The institute has large spacious class rooms and labs so as to be sure that the students get the best environment for studying.

It was 500 year ago from now that a boy named Lingo was born in the Basque country of Northern Spain. Living in a small castle because of his noble birth, the boy grew up to be well educated, with fondness for clothes, beautiful ladies and the unflinching sounds of battle. He thought of himself as a great soldier, and he was indeed one. Although he thought himself to be a great lover, it seems that God had a different plan for Indigo of Loyola. Wounded in the battle of Pampalona in 1521 against the French, he resume to his couch, enduring much pain and boredom. Primarily to cast away from his present state that he took on to reading the lives of great saints like St. Dominic and St. Francis of Assisi and vowed to live like them. Gradually by God’s grace he was transformed and had set his step on the rocky path that would lead him to Salamanca, Paris, Venice, Jerusalem and Rome. By this time he was known as Ignatius of Loyola who received from Pope Julius III, a decree proclaiming that he and his little group of nine followers would happen to be known as the “Society of Jesus” in the year 1540 in Rome. A new religious order came in the effect in the Catholic Church, one that would spread throughout the world and have profound effects on many lives. While Jesuits were opening schools and colleges across Europe (hence nicknamed as the schoolmaster of Europe) Francis Xavier, a close friend of Ignatius came to Goa in 1542 and started many schools. Over the year many of them would take Xavier as their patron because he, like Ignatius also became a Saint. Today one wonders, how many Indian have been educated at such prestigious institution as Xavier’s Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Patna, Ranchi, Hazaribagh, etc. It was as the continuation of the tradition of such hallowed education temple that Xavier Institute of Social Service was established in1955 at St Xavier’s College, Ranchi. In 1973, the institute was registered as a separate educational society under Societies Registration Act, 1960. Since then in history it has been recognized as one of the most outstanding management school in India. Xavier Institute of Polytechnic and Technology – The vision of the governing body of XISS, Ranchi, to contribute to the development of engineering skill as a gradually emerging power of the state. Henceforth Xavier Institute of polytechnic come into being as a pioneer institute with a vision to be recognized as a renowned learning institution for engineering and technology by providing highest quality academic programmes that will foster student development and connect knowledge and practice.

Xavier Institute of Polytechnic and Technology (XIPT) was established in 2010 at Bargawan, Namkum by Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi. XIPT is a new venture of Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi into technical education in the state and it is the first diploma level technical institute by the Ranchi Jesuit Society in Jharkhand offering engineering courses. XISS was established in 1955 with the objective of training young men and women in Rural Development, Personnel Management and Industrial Relations. In 1973 the institute was registered as a separate educational society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Over the years, XISS has developed its own distinct identity as a centre of excellence in management education, research, consultancy and development interventions. XIPT offers a pollution free environment for students, staff members and is located approximately 6 kilometres away from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The campus is spread over an area of more than 10 acres of land. The classes for the first batch of session 2010-2013 started from 01/10/2010 and it has witnessed successful completion of their tenure.

The institute has a well stocked library containing over 15,000 volumes of books, journal, encyclopaedias and magazines. The library meets the academic as well as research requirements of students and faculty. The institute offer an auditorium equipped with a seating capability of 200 people which is extensively used for hosting seminars, cultural events and other events with utmost convenience. The institute houses a grand seminar hall, conference hall and faculty lounge, which cater to the requirements of the highly demanding course curricula of various disciplines at XIPT. The institute has a well-furnished 150 seated hostel for girls and boys in a separate campus of its own which is at a walking distance from the main premise. The configuration of the room is four bedded. The hostel canteen serves nutritious and healthy food cooked under hygienic condition. The institute has its own playground, badminton cot and basketball cot which the student uses indiscriminately to let off the strain of a very demanding student life at XIPT. Sports provide a break from the rigour of intensive study and help the student to get into good spirit.
