Merit-Based Scholarships

All applicants (domestic and international) are automatically considered for Providence College’s academic scholarships. The Committee on Scholarships determines awards based on the application for admission, and these scholarships are given to students who display outstanding academic credentials. Please note that no merit scholarship covers the full cost of attendance, and that even if combined with a need-based award, funding will not exceed the cost of tuition.

Need-based Financial Assistance

Providence College is able to provide a limited amount of need-based aid to international students (non-US citizens). Need-based awards are intended to supplement the amount that a student is able to pay in order to reach the full cost of attendance. Our need-based awards can cover up to the cost of full tuition, though these cases are extremely rare. Other expenses, including room, board, travel, books, and other costs and fees, are the responsibility of the student.

Ans. When we assess a student's high school transcript, our focus is on the presence of Honors and Advanced Placement courses offered by their specific high school. We carefully consider the extent to which the student has engaged with these challenging courses in their academic journey. Each student's course selection is assigned a rating, which ensures that due recognition is given to any Honors and Advanced Placement courses they have undertaken. Additionally, we take into account the student's GPA, which is measured on an unweighted 4.0 scale. The combination of the GPA and the strength of the curriculum rating plays a pivotal role in our evaluation process when considering candidates for admission.

Ans. Having a parent or sibling with a connection to Providence College is a meaningful aspect of your identity as an applicant. We are dedicated to upholding the tradition of family ties within the PC community. While we do consider this information when reviewing your application for admission, it's important to note that it does not guarantee admission. Instead, it represents one component of the broader evaluation process.

Ans. The Admission Committee will choose recipients for a range of merit scholarships. We encourage you to explore additional details regarding how the selection process works and the specific scholarship amounts available.

Q4: Is on-campus housing guaranteed for four years?

Ans. Providence College guarantees and mandates on-campus housing for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Although seniors are not assured housing, it's exceedingly uncommon for a senior who desires on-campus accommodation to be denied. Typically, around 50% of seniors choose to reside off-campus, often within a short distance of PC's campus. This arrangement ensures that all students who wish to live on campus can generally do so.

Q5: Can students have cars at Providence College?

Ans. Parking on campus is exclusively offered to junior and senior undergraduate students who reside in on-campus housing.

Q6: Is street parking free in Providence?

Ans. Numerous free, non-metered parking spaces can be found throughout the City of Providence, although certain non-metered spots may have specific time restrictions. It's important to note that on-street parking within Providence is prohibited from 2 AM to 5 AM unless you possess either an overnight parking permit or a guest parking permit.

Q7: Can I defer my admission? 

Ans. Certainly. Any student who intends to delay their enrollment for a maximum of one year needs to complete two steps: first, they should submit their enrollment deposit via the Admission Status Portal by May 1. Then, they must make a formal request to defer their enrollment no later than July 15. It's important to note that students can opt for deferral as long as they are not engaged in full-time coursework at another institution during this period. Q8: When are tuition bills distributed and due? 

Ans. Students can anticipate receiving their tuition bills toward the end of June, with the outstanding balances expected to be settled by August 15. Additionally, for those who prefer a more gradual approach, payment plans are an option, allowing for monthly installment payments.
