Description

Eligibility:

Engineering Aspirants must satisfy the following criteria in order to be eligible for the KEAM Entrance Exam Engineering Entrance Exam.

Academic Eligibility For KEAM:

  • Indian or NRI Candidates must have completed their Higher Secondary Level of Education (equivalent to Grade 12th). The Indian and NRI candidates who are in Grade 12th in the year of applying for the KEAM Entrance Exam Registration form can also take this exam. This is because, by the time the Results of KEAM Entrance Exam arrive & Seat Allocation occurs (CAP), their Grade 12th Results would already be released.
  • Required Subjects: The 3 mandatory subjects are Physics, Maths & any 1 of the following subjects- Chemistry, Computer Science, Biotechnology & Biology.
  • Required Marks (Non-Management Quota Admissions): Indian and NRI Candidates must have scored an aggregate of 50% marks. For Maths, the score must be 50% as well.
  • Required Marks (Management Quota Admissions): Indian and NRI Candidates must have scored an aggregate of 45% marks to be eligible for admissions (under Management Quota) in Private SFTIs & Govt. Controlled SFTIs. SFTIs= Self Financed Technical Institutions.

 Age Criteria For KEAM:

  • The Indian and NRI candidates must have completed 18 years of age (as on 31st December for that particular year).
  • There is no upper age limit to KEAM Entrance Exam.

 Nationality Required For KEAM:

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India or NRI (Non-Resident Indian). To be eligible to apply under categories such as OBC-NCL/ SC / ST, candidates must be from the state of Kerala.
  • PIO & OCI Candidates are also eligible for KEAM Entrance Exam but only under General Quota i.e. no reservation. For NRI Candidates to be eligible (under Non-K1 / Non-K2 categories), they must be directly related to Kerala such as being born there or having hometown in Kerala, having a domicile certificate of Kerala, etc. Be sure to clarify all this before you start to prepare for this exam.

Category Wise Eligibility for Non-Keralites:

  1. Non-Keralite 1 (Non-K1):
  • The candidates who have spent 5 years of studies from Kerala are eligible. Also those who do not have domicile certificate of Kerala but have completed/pursuing Grade 8th to Grade 12th are eligible.
  • Candidates who have cleared their qualifying exam (Grade 11th & 12th) from Kerala & their parents are posted in Kerala & are employee of defence or Central Government or served in Kerala Govt for 2 years are eligible as well.
  1. Non-Keralite 2 (Non-K2):

  • Candidates of this category are eligible only for 10% of seats in the Institutes - Govt. Controlled SFTIs & Private SFTIs through both management & non-management Quota. The only difference here is that for Govt Controlled SFTIs, Non-K2 candidates can only take admissions under the non-management quota when Keralites & Non-K1 Candidates are not available of admissions into vacant seats.
  • Non-K2 candidates are not eligible for admission in Govt. Engineering Institutes of Kerala. They must only opt for Private SFTIs & Govt.Controlled SFTIs. SFTIs= Self Financed Technical Admissions. NRI Candidates, from an Indian State other than Kerala, may fall under the Non-K2 Category.
