Exam Overview

The Assam Science and Technology University was established by Government of Assam under Assam Science & Technology University Act 2009. It aims to provide education and research in the field of science & technology and other professional courses in Assam. ASTU is the premier and only technical university in the North Eastern Region of India. The university is responsible for academic regulation of all undergraduate and post-graduate programs in engineering, and pharmaceutical sciences and a few professional courses in science and management sectors. ASTU also conducts an in-house post-graduate course in Energy Engineering. Since its inception, ASTU has been undertaking high quality teaching and research in frontier areas of science & technology continuously upgrading the syllabi and creating environment for international standard research and emphasizing in bridging the ancient wisdom of the region with modern technology.
Within a very short time of its establishment, ASTU pioneered in establishing a Central Research Hub (CRH), a facility which is not common in Indian universities, and the first of its kind in the North Eastern Region of India. ASTU CRH was initiated in 2018 under the TEQIP-III, MHRD. It aims to create the best possible environment with state-of-the-art facilities for research and innovation to flourish within the region. ASTU will also harness the expertise of leading researchers across the country and the globe to focus on challenge-led, disciplinary and inter- disciplinary research thus strengthening the capability for research along with innovation and knowledge exchange. The Phase-I of ASTU CRH was established in 2019 with the following four laboratories:
Multi-disciplinary Experimental & Testing Accessible Laboratory (METAL)
Energy Research Laboratory (EEL)
Material Science Research Laboratory (MSRL)
Tribology Laboratory (TL)
There are also two other facilities under CRH, which are:
Internal Combustion Engine Research Laboratory
Computational Research Laboratory

OBJECTIVES OF THE UNIVERSITY:
Regulation of Courses and the Examination system for both Undergraduate and Postgraduates Programme including the degree leading to Ph.D. for Science and Technology discipline for all the Engineering Colleges in the state of Assam.
Introduction of Post Graduate Courses in identified thrust areas.
Establishment of Research and Development Activities.
Development of a Data Bank for Natural Resources. Assam Science and Technology University has been established to bring all the Engineering Colleges/Institutions of Assam under a single platform and to provide uniform standards of technical education.

VISION:
Give synchronized strategic and operational leadership to technical education of Assam through a unified structure.
Create state of the art infrastructure and train excellent academic personnel to be with the international peers.

MISSION:
Establish a platform to participate together by Government and Private organization under unified umbrella.
Create facilities for all to participate; Interaction with industries.

STRATEGY:
Interfacing between ASTU and Government Institutes.
Immediate formation of review committees for Syllabi from all experts from Assam, AEC, JEC, IITG & others (confidence building); Introduce in 2017-18 session.
Review new courses.
Participation in various univ. boards by Senior Faculties of Government Institution.
Establish QA programme to define roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders.
Ph.D guide for qualified faculties of these organizations.
Bring in freshness by augmenting infrastructure to be at par with recognized establishments; share them to optimize utilization.
Seminars, Workshops, Brain storming meetings among stakeholders.
