About Solid State (JEE Main, Class 11th)
What is Solid State ?
Solid-state chemistry is a branch of chemistry that focuses on the study of solid materials, their synthesis, structure, properties, and reactions. It explores the relationship between the atomic or molecular arrangement of solids and their physical and chemical properties. Solid-state chemists work with a variety of materials, ranging from metals and ceramics to polymers and complex compounds. They investigate the behaviour of these materials in the solid state, aiming to understand and manipulate their properties for various applications. Solid-state chemistry contributes to advancements in materials science, technology, and research fields by designing new materials with tailored properties and characterizing their structures using techniques such as X-ray diffraction, spectroscopy, and microscopy.
