CBSE-i (CBSE International) is an internationally-benchmarked unit that provides skill-based curriculum to international school students and creates international competition in quality education.
CBSE-i establishes India as a global leader in providing education which is already present in 21 foreign countries with 141 affiliated schools. This unit also provides an effective affordable curriculum to attract developed and developing countries worldwide to seek affiliation with the Indian education system.
Introduced by CBSE in 2010, key subjects of CBSE-i are English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science supporting a new learning approach towards the revolution of International education by promoting critical and creative thinking skills, effective communication skills, and mutual and interpersonal skills.Mathematics subject is segregated into Elective and Core.
These two segments are applicable for Grade IX and Grade X students and can be chosen by students any one of them as per their aptitude.
At first, in the academic year 2010-2011, the International curriculum of CBSE-i had been applied in about 25 schools in the Middle East and Southeast Asia as a pilot project for Grades I and IX.
It had been further extended for the academic year 2011-2012 for Grades II, VI, and X and also extended for the academic year 2012-2013 for Grades III, VII, and XI. The CBSE-i Board will review and extend it to other schools abroad in its next phase of progress promotion for selected Indian schools.
Why CBSE-i?
A recent tendency on the part of the Indian schools also to opt for International curricula so that students can gainfully compete with learners worldwide. This unit (Board) follows two standards for students: International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge International Education (CIE).

Salient Features
CBSE-i provides opportunities for extended earning, development of perspectives, research orientation, social perspective through work, activities and action, and a more liberal approach towards arts education (both visual and performing art). It also provides an alternative approach to mathematics learning at higher levels. Social Science subjects with valuable historical perspectives and components of the countries in which schools are situated will be added features.

Subjects offered by CBSE-i are English, Second language – anyone of them - (Tamil/French/Hindi), Mathematics (Core and Elective), Science, Social Science and Information Technology (Additional Subject). The course duration is 1 year for each Grade and the academic year rotates from April to March.
