About ICSE

ICSE stands for Indian Certificate of Secondary Education. This examination is conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations which is a private school education board in India. It conducts examinations for 10th Standard.

The subjects that are offered under ICSE are divided in three groups as follows:-

Group I

Compulsory subjects:-

1.English

2. History
3. Civics
4. Geography
5. Indian Language

Group II

Any two subjects from the following:-

1. Mathematics
2. Science
3. Environmental Science
4. Computer Science
5. Agricultural Science
6. Commercial Studies
7. Technical Drawing
8. Foreign Language
9. Classical Language
10. Economics

Group III

Any one subject from the following:

1. Computer Applications
2. Economic Applications
3. Commercial Applications
4. Arts
5. Performing Arts
6. Home Science
7. Cookery
8. Fashion Designing
9. Physical Education
10. Technical drawing Applications
11. Yoga
12. Environmental Applications

All subjects covered under ICSE Board also include the marks of Internal Assessment. They carry very important weightage in the calculation of the percentage of the students during their results.20% weightage of Internal Assessment is given in group I and II and 50% weightage is given in group III. The Internal Assessments are conducted by schools in the form of project work/assignment, practical or coursework.
