These government engineering colleges in India might be useful for NRI Aspirants. Remember that if you fail to get admission in IITs (via JEE Advanced) and NITs (via DASA Quota for NRIs), there still are various prestigious IIITs & CFIs(Centrally Funded Institutions) which onboard NRI students under DASA Scheme. Still if you can’t make it into these colleges, further there are few more government colleges (mentioned below state-wise) that can be beneficial for you. Indeed, most NRIs aren’t keen about the government colleges, but by acknowledging economical fee it would be good to have a list of government colleges to back you up.
Note: According to the latest update from DASA, from 2021-22 onwards, JEE Ranks will be made mandatory for NRI/PIO/OCI Students to be eligible for DASA & CIWG Schemes. Hence, 2020-21 will be the last year when SAT 2 Scores will be considered for DASA/CIWG Scheme.

What is DASA?
DASA stands for Direct Admission for Students Abroad. This Scheme was launched by MHRD, India to help the NRIs/PIOs & OCIs in getting admissions in top NITs, IIITs, SPAs & CFIs of India. DASA Scheme is conducted by any one of the NITs every year.
DASA scheme is for the students of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of India Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Foreign Nationals all over the world. Aspirants must submit their SAT 2 Scores for Physics, Chemistry & Maths level 2 (valid till session 2020-21) or JEE Mains Rank (applicable from 2021-22 session onwards), in order to avail the benefits of DASA/CIWG Scheme. This scheme is applicable to the engineering aspirants who want to make a career (apply for UG Courses) in Engineering, Technology and Architecture stream only. 15 percent of seats in each of the below listed colleges are reserved for NRIs under DASA Scheme.

What is CIWG Scheme?
CIWG stand for Children of India Workers in Gulf & it is a subset of DASA Scheme.
One-Third of seats under DASA are reserved for CIWG students & the fee under CIWG Scheme is comparatively very low.

How CIWG Benefits Gulf Based NRI Students?
The benefits of CIWG are as follows:
Very Low Fee
DASA Seat Occupancy during the registration
Fee: Your entire 8 semester’s tuition fee will be managed in just 5.5 Lakhs.
DASA Occupancy: If you’re unable to get admission under the CIWG scheme, you can secure admission from the DASA quota as well. That is you can secure admission in both the CIWG and DASA quotas.
In a nutshell, if you fail to secure admission in CIWG scheme, you can get admission via DASA scheme as well. In order to avail this feature, you have to pay the DASA tuition fee, $4000 a semester. After paying $4000, you can choose your choice of program and stream in both the CIWG and DASA schemes.
Your extra DASA’s tuition fee will be refunded if you get admission in CIWG scheme.
